Sending Emmy off with Love and Prayers...

Paul looks on as Lydia prays
concerning Em's future, as I stand behind Em with my hand on her shoulder.
Even though Emmy plans changed and is not moving until Monday a.m. on the 18th, we decided it would work out best to have our get-together yesterday anyway. We were all pretty laid back after a big, busy weekend. Having friends that we can all feel comfortable putting out feet up, and having to 'entertain' was how this group of friends was.
It will not be the same without Emmy here. But for most young adults, separating from what's so familiar is the bittersweet part of forming a separate identity. Since Em didn't go away to college, this is her 'education' time in many ways. It might seem too practical or even simplistic, but she wants to shop and cook for herself; with her difficult diet. She also wants to create a little home for herself; she's been dreaming about the perfect way to decorate her first apartment. She wants to take responsibility of paying her own bills, and having a job she will be dependent on to save up for important items to her, like a new car.
She thinks through every detail.
By the way,
the bittersweet part is mainly on Paul and my side. I bet you already knew that.
I'm glad she likes to call home.

Emily explains to everyone how she will find opportunities to continue in her photography; even in po-dunk Fallon, Nevada.
